Healthy Habits: Food Loss and Waste Implementation Sub-grants – Cohort 3- Applications due by July 1, 2026
National 4-H Council (Council) is proud to collaborate with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) on the project Increasing Food Production & Combating Food Waste and Loss through 4-H (FASLP FLW) to prepare youth with going Beyond Ready; helping kids find their spark, build real-world skills and become resilient, adaptable, lifelong learners. In the United States, over one-third of all available food goes uneaten through loss or waste. Through implementation subgrants, land-grant universities (LGUs) will utilize 4-H’s significant reach and research-backed programmatic experience to increase waste reduction efforts in schools and reduce plate waste in school feeding programs; and improve food, garden and nutrition education. There are up to ten (10) awards of up to $120,000 each available in Cohort 3 implementation subgrants. The grant period will run from August 1, 2026-March 31, 2027.
NOTE: This is a pre-award RFA. The award of these subgrants is contingent on the scope of work modification for the current Grant from USDA/NIFA to Council. Council will communicate any updates in the RFA within 24 hours of receiving the official notification of approval from USDA/NIFA and subgrantees may submit their applications or change what has already been submitted through WebGrants by Wednesday, July 1, 2026, 4:59 PM Eastern.
